This policy applies to the Cornell Nexus project team website. It explains what information may be collected when you visit the site or contact us, how that information may be used, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
This website does not require an account and does not currently use first-party analytics or advertising tools. We may receive information in the following ways:
- Information you provide. If you email Cornell Nexus, we receive your email address and any information included in your message.
- Recruitment information submitted elsewhere. Coffee-chat and recruitment forms are hosted by Google. Information entered into those forms is provided to Google and shared with authorized Cornell Nexus team members.
- Basic technical records. Our hosting and infrastructure providers may automatically process standard server information such as IP address, browser type, device type, requested pages, timestamps, and error logs to deliver, secure, and maintain the site.
How we use information
Information may be used to respond to questions, coordinate recruitment and coffee chats, evaluate interest in the team, maintain site security and reliability, troubleshoot problems, and comply with applicable Cornell policies or legal obligations.
How information is shared
We do not sell personal information. Information may be shared with Cornell Nexus members who need it for the purposes described above, with service providers that operate the website or linked forms, with Cornell University when appropriate, or when disclosure is required by law or necessary to protect people, the team, or the site.
External services and links
The site links to services including Google Forms, Instagram, LinkedIn, GitHub, and other third-party websites. Those services are operated independently and may collect information under their own privacy policies. Cornell Nexus does not control their privacy or security practices.
Retention and security
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for team operations, recruitment, communication, security, or applicable recordkeeping requirements. We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no website, email system, or online storage method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices
You may choose not to email us or submit information through linked forms. To ask about information you previously provided directly to Cornell Nexus, request a correction, or request deletion where appropriate, contact us at nexus@cornell.edu.
Children's privacy
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly request personal information from children under 13 through this website.
Updates to this policy
We may update this policy as the website or our practices change. The effective date at the top of this page will be revised when material updates are published.
