TEAM LEADS
MECHANICAL

The Mechanical subteam is currently manufacturing our beach-cleaning robot. Its work includes developing the drivetrain and filtration assemblies and using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks to design the robot. We are a small, tight-knit team, so members have opportunities to work on many components, solve new problems creatively, and gain hands-on experience.

ELECTRICAL

The Electrical subteam designs and implements the sensor and power systems for our autonomous robot. Current projects include designing, assembling, testing, and refining custom PCBs for sensor operation and power distribution; developing the base station’s solar-powered system to recharge the robot autonomously; integrating GPS-RTK (real-time kinematics) for high-accuracy localization as the robot traverses the beach; and writing motor-controller code that uses encoder data for the updated swerve-steering drivetrain.
Electrical Team Members
SOFTWARE

The Software subteam is the brain behind the robot. Its members tackle the code, logic, and technology that make Honu function. Current projects include reading sensor data to determine the robot’s location and monitor its health, implementing computer-vision models for autonomous steering and obstacle avoidance, and visualizing robot data through simulations.

BUSINESS

The Business subteam manages the logistics that make our projects possible and helps them achieve their intended impact. Its work includes securing funding, managing finances, supporting internal operations, marketing the organization, and more.
